We were beginning our Bible lesson for the day, and I told the boys we would be learning about the first miracle Jesus performed. My 5 year old shouted excitedly, “I know that story! That is the one where Jesus goes to a wedding and turns the water into tea!”

As I was tucking my oldest in bed and wishing him sweet dreams the night before his birthday, he said to me, “Mom, I don’t dream very much anymore.” I assured him that it was just a part of growing up, that as you grow you dream less and less. His little chin began to [...]

We were all sitting down to a dinner of Mexican Lasagna. Grant doesn’t care much for olives, and since the nutritional value of a handful of canned olives is insignificant, I let him pick them out and give them to his big brother. This time, the otherwise ordinary event had everyone at the table in stitches. [...]

My 5 year old loves to be a part of any conversation. It doesn’t matter what the subject is, or how far over his head it may be, he always has something to contribute. We were sitting down to dinner in a restaurant tonight, and the boys were busy coloring their little activity placemats. My [...]

This morning my 6 year-old son returned from taking something out to the trash with a very disheartened look on his face.
“Mom,” he says, “I have something to tell you, and it is not good news.”
I take a deep breath, close my eyes and brace myself. I can only imagine what he saw on [...]

This morning while we were eating breakfast, my 6-year old son said to me, “Mom, when I grow up, I hope I get to marry a girl, not a boy.” I replied, “Well, sweetie, God tells us that boys should not marry other boys, so I’m glad you want to marry a girl.” Then my [...]

Okay, I know my posts have been a little heavy lately. Maybe it is the time of year that makes me reflect on life… who knows? Here is one to lighten it up a bit:
Yesterday during our science lesson, the boys and I were discussing the importance of livestock. I asked them why livestock are [...]

The boys were really disappointed about missing out on the trick-or-treating. Tuesday morning they both prayed that God would make them well in time to go. Afterward my oldest came to me and said he didn’t think he would be well in time. When I asked why he thought that, he said “because trick-or-treating is [...]

A little over a year ago, my oldest son, then 5, came to me and told me that he had decided to marry Caroline. She is a sweet girl with long blonde hair that played on his soccer team. I knew he liked her because he always cheered for her when she played, and he was more excited about her points [...]

The boys and I have been discussing our upcoming trip to Disney World. They are very excited, but Grant is a little scared of the rides. He’s always been the braver of the two, except when it comes to theme parks.
I remember the first time we took Grant to Six Flags. He was just barely three, [...]
